Busy times

Can make for family closeness.

Or sometimes not. I don’t know if it’s all in how you look at it, or, if it is as my wise mother told me once “It just means everything to feel like you both have your shoulders against the same rock and are pushing together.”

Little Cowgirl asked to be dropped off along with lunch one day.

Farmer Boy, walking to the van for a ride home at dusk.

I am so fortunate to feel that My Farmer and I are pushing against the same rock together. And I like knowing that our children are watching us doing so. I watched my own parents shoulder their boulder through the 1980s (farm economy hell) and have benefited from their example every day of my life.

Also, it’s May Day tomorrow. Out of curiosity, does your family do anything special to celebrate?

  1. It’s Labour Day (English spelling hehe) on May 1 in Malaysia – where workers get a day off.

As every day is a ‘working’ day for me, I just love the fact that there will be no traffic on the roads!

How are you celebrating May Day?

  2. I love that. Shouldering the same boulder. So true that your kids are learning good stuff from watching that happen, too.

What in the heck IS May Day? There’s something at school but I’ve never heard of it. And, of course, I didn’t actually READ the email, just the headline. Then forgot about it completely until now.

Is it related to the Maypole?

  3. I liked what you have said. This is so true. We sometimes (well most of the time) our family is so on the same boat.
By the way I love the pictures.

  4. Well last evening I proposed we celebrate May Fool’s Day today ,but husband didn’t want to. :/ Now if my grown up boys were still living at home, that would have been a lot of fun! Where are my kids when I need them!? I guess it’s too late to suggest it to my grandkids… Next year!
