I just realized it is weird to yell this at your child:

“Shooter middle-and-last-Name! Close that book and put it down right now! You need to get dressed and eat breakfast so you won’t be late!”

Yes, yes it is. BUT, as great as reading is, food is still a necessity and reading is not.

I have to say things like that all the time. Also, sometimes I have to take away books in order to get children to do what they need to be doing, like getting dressed or cleaning their room.

I can SOOOO relate to this. First it was the oldest child who we have even caught brushing her teeth and trying to read a book at the same time. Now the middle child is doing it too! I told them the other day that I was going to bring my book in the car and ignore everyone and everything and let them drive!
